I chose to do my MBA at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ because it is one of the best STEMB institutions globally. I wanted to build my business acumen and continue to work on innovation in the technology industry. The Full-Time MBA has allowed me to take a break from my current industry, unlearn it and then relearn with a fresh mindset. I'm part of a diverse cohort and have time to explore new areas and immerse myself in the activities, events and coursework - it's a truly holistic experience.
Through a combination of online pre-study modules and induction week, you will be well prepared for the academic rigour of the MBA and equipped to maximise the benefits of the programme.
Pre-September
You will be expected to complete online pre-study modules before the start of your programme. These will be delivered via Canvas, our virtual learning environment (VLE). Modules include primers in key areas including accounting, careers, corporate sustainability, data analysis, finance, maths, plagiarism awareness and social innovation and ethics.
Please note that some modules are compulsory while others are strongly recommended.
Early September, compulsory
Your Full-Time MBA induction will be spent at our South Kensington campus in London, where you will meet with the rest of your cohort, faculty and programme staff. This takes place at the start of September when the programme begins and lasts for two weeks. It will include an away day that offers the chance to bond with your new classmates.
Our core modules build a solid foundation and refine your existing knowledge of advanced business principles. Most core modules run in the Autumn term (September-December) with some running in the Spring term (January-February).
Managers are faced with a wealth of data. This module is about turning that data into actionable insights, leading to well-informed decisions for complex business problems.
This module equips you with a range of frameworks, tools and techniques, many of which have been developed by the management consulting industry. The focus of the module will be problems that include the collection and analysis of data.
Corporate finance matters, both to the success of organisations and to economies. The business world is affected and, at times, influenced by the financial decisions made by corporations. You will develop a market-oriented framework for analysing a corporation’s investment decisions.
This module will take you beyond the numbers and teach you how a company’s financial reporting can help you to understand that company’s health and story.
This module will build your knowledge, skills and experience in starting up an innovative business, looking for critical funding, and structuring a deal to make your business viable.
You will learn how to overcome innovation problems, understand customer needs and value propositions, and evaluate commercial potential. You will also learn tactics for securing buy-in and best practices for scaling your business.
In order to ensure your business stays buoyant in a competitive market, you need to understand how individual markets operate and how to use economic tools to analyse your position. By the end of this module, you will know how to apply basic principles of economics to real-world questions.
Develop a general management viewpoint in planning and evaluating marketing decisions, from strategic and tactical perspectives. It will help you understand how marketing decisions contribute to business performance and how such decisions are affected by organisational and environmental influences.
Develop the best-practice tools you can use to be an effective leader and manager. You will understand how to manage yourself, lead and motivate others and work effectively in teams to deliver strong results.
You will explore business-level and corporate strategy, and develop your ability to think beyond day-to-day business activities. You will examine issues such as how to define a firm's purpose, how to understand its competitors and how to gain and maintain an edge.
Once you have completed the core modules you will have a menu of choices to personalise your learning, with flexcore and elective modules and the opportunity to specialise further with one of our optional concentrations.
Our flexcore modules allow you to take a deep dive into a specialist area that aligns with your chosen career path and personal interests. Flexcore modules run in the Spring term and students are required to take two modules.
This module covers a number of advanced tools for data manipulation and visualisation, including Excel, Google Sheets/Query, Power BI and Tableau.
You will take a managerial perspective and develop statistical thinking when analysing data, using real data sets from IT, supply chain, retail, finance and other relevant industries.
Design thinking represents a powerful way to unleash the creative potential of managers and leaders in organisations. It is rapidly becoming a new management paradigm for value creation. You will develop the ability to gain deep insights about users, define and reframe problems, generate effective solutions and articulate ideas clearly, both verbally and visually.
You’ll also develop a mindset that embraces uncertainty and seeks new opportunities through exploration and experimentation.
Some say risk is an inevitable part of investing. Risky investments can bring big rewards, but these risks can, and should, be managed. To prevent loss, you must understand the main financial securities and markets, and how to develop efficient investment strategies.
To complement your classroom studies, you’ll have access to the Connect learning platform’s state-of-the-art technology, including a fully interactive book with online exercises and assignments.
This module analyses the macroeconomic backdrop against which businesses and governments operate. You’ll examine real decisions made by governments and corporations, for example the 2008 financial crisis and the economics of Brexit.
A firm can create competitive advantage through efficient and effective management of its operations. This module covers key concepts of operations management, such as how to analyse process flows and bottlenecks, how to plan capacity and how to manage inventory and supply chain.
You will learn how to apply these ideas to achieve operational excellence.
The Business School offers over 40 elective modules, offering a mix of on-campus and online formats. Building on the skills you develop during the core modules, you will choose six electives. Your choice will be shaped by whether you’ve opted to pursue a specialism and the flexcore modules taken earlier in the year.
Electives run across Spring and Summer terms and are open to students across our four MBA programmes, which means you will have the opportunity to expand your professional network.
Please note that our elective portfolio is reviewed and updated annually and so elective offerings are subject to change.
April-August

April-August
Choosing to focus your studies through one of our concentrations means you can develop your expertise in a primary area and, depending on your company or career path, give yourself an edge in a competitive job market.
At ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School you can experience life at the heart of one of the most popular cities in the world for students. However you’ll also enjoy opportunities to travel internationally and immerse yourself in new business environments.
Summer, compulsory
Global Experience Week is an unforgettable opportunity that MBA students look forward to each year. Previous destinations have included the Nordics, Chile and Kenya. You’ll learn about the challenges local organisations face, and how their operations are impacted by their country’s business environment.
Locations are subject to change. Specific dates and destinations for your cohort will be announced during the Autumn term. As this is a compulsory element of your programme, the cost of this trip is included in your tuition fees.
Optional
The optional Global Exchanges programme allows you to increase your international exposure and build your network. The programme is subject to a competitive application process and places are limited. If your application is successful you’ll be able to take advantage of specialised electives at one of our partner schools, ranging from one module over the course of one week or weekend, to two or more modules over the course of a few weeks.
Students on the Full-Time MBA have the opportunity to expand their programme duration to 16 months to undertake an Extended Work Placement or Global Exchange, subject to an additional fee.
This will allow you to undertake a wider range of placement opportunities as many employers in the UK and worldwide offer longer internships, which can be particularly advantageous for gaining comprehensive work experience. In addition, employers in Europe often view internships as a critical step in the hiring process, and by participating in longer internships, you can demonstrate your commitment and capabilities, making you a more attractive candidate for future roles.
If you choose an Extended Global Exchange you will enjoy an enhanced international study experience at one of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s partner schools, broadening your cultural and academic perspectives. Both an Extended Work Placement and an Extended Global Exchange will earn you additional academic credit, which is particularly valued by employers in Europe. This can further differentiate you in the competitive job market.
The ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ MBA offers many opportunities to apply what you’ve learnt in the classroom to real-life scenarios. In the Summer term you will also complete an Individual Project – choosing between a Business Project or Internship.
In this one-week learning laboratory, you’ll work with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ scientists. Together, you’ll apply innovative thinking to generate business solutions to complex international issues. In groups, you will use business model innovation to create economic disruption with positive environmental and social effects. Students typically work with a deep tech client, developing their understanding of the relationship between business and technology.
Your MBA will culminate in an unforgettable capstone experience away from campus. You’ll spend time in a natural environment, giving you the space to reflect upon your learning experience. Locations are subject to change and more information will be provided once you begin your programme.
The Business Project allows you to develop your ideas on a particular topic of interest. You may choose from the following three options:
Employ your networking skills to organise an internship. Our Careers team will also share any opportunities on offer with our corporate connections and alumni network. If you would like to extend your programme to 16 months, you can choose to undertake an Extended Work Placement.
Please note that additional fees apply.
Leadership is an essential part of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ MBA and we will support your development as a leader throughout the programme. You’ll learn how your awareness of ethical, societal and diversity issues, and your own leadership style, play a role in every decision you make.
Year-long, compulsory
The Personal Leadership Journey is a Careers-led module that runs throughout the programme. Through workshops, reflective exercises and one-to-one meetings you will develop the key skills you need as a global professional and make new connections with leaders and experts from the industries that most interest you.
Working closely with your own personal Careers Consultant, you’ll focus on four key areas:
Year-long, compulsory
The world needs responsible leaders who care about the long-term health of their organisations, society and the environment. Our holistic LEADS module runs all year, and starts by giving you the tools to discover and analyse yourself.
You will then consider yourself in relation to others, and explore the role of leaders in making organisations sustainable.
Teamwork is an essential asset for any career and you will develop advanced skills during your MBA. Over the Spring and Summer terms, you will select one group project, choosing between the Entrepreneurial Journey, Strategic Consulting Project, Analytics Project or Finance Project.
The Entrepreneurial Journey is your opportunity to work an idea into a product or service. You’ll pitch your proposition to a panel of venture capitalists, and compete for a monetary prize. You can connect with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ scientists if your idea is tech-related.
The journey is suitable for entrepreneurs, or those wanting to start their own ventures. Throughout the Journey, you will collaborate with the to connect with investors and receive coaching support.
The Strategic Consulting Project (SCP) module provides the opportunity to work on a real-world business problem for a real client, in a team setting with support from a faculty coach.
This will allow you to apply the knowledge you gained in the Business Problem Solving module, other core modules, and your skill in working as part of a team. Clients tend to be a mix of large and small companies, with recent examples including Virgin Media, SSE, Rajasthan Royals and Arrival.
Gain practical experience in developing business/data analytics applications for business with our Analytics Project. Work part-time in small groups to complete a business-related project which contains a significant analytics component.
Choose between working individually or in a team of two to address an important and real-life problem, opportunity or challenge in a finance firm. You will use data gathering and analysis to prepare a formal written proposal and communicate your results in a presentation and written report.
Our programmes are intensive periods of study. For each module, you will be expected to complete approximately 20 hours of class time.
Contact hours form only part of the activity that you will be asked to undertake. You will need to spend three hours studying for every one hour in the classroom, devoting that time to:
A significant amount of time will be allocated to career planning and development. You’ll also be expected to contribute actively to the Business School community.
The Business School holds on-campus and online information sessions throughout the year. These give you the opportunity to learn more about the programmes from the Programme Director, current students and alumni.
