Global experiences explained and which programmes can participate
What are global experiences?
Global experiences are international learning opportunities that may be available as optional and/or compulsory parts of your programme. They are an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge you have acquired over the course of your programme to real-world business contexts in a global setting.
These experiences can include visits to international organisations, the chance to work on real consulting projects, insights into how local markets are tackling complex business problems, collaboration with students and partner schools from around the world and a chance to learn from global business leaders.
Which global experiences are available at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School?
We offer global experiences on our MBA and Master's programmes, providing opportunities for international exposure across various career stages and specialisms.
The experiences available to you will depend on your programme.
- Master's students – you may take part in a Global Immersion, Global Business Challenge and Global Exchange. Previous cohorts have travelled to South Africa, Boston, New York and Singapore.
- MBA students – you can benefit from a Global Experience Week where you will travel to a range of business hubs. Previous cohorts travelled to Kenya, the Nordics and Chile. You may also choose to take part in a Global Exchange.
How do global experiences improve career prospects?
Global experience and study abroad allow you to grow personally, professionally and globally.
In a world facing new and unfamiliar challenges, including the rise of AI in business, it is becoming increasingly important for graduates to be able to collaborate across cultures and teams, as well as being able to adapt to unfamiliar and changing business needs. Here’s what you can expect to gain:
Apply your learnings to real business challenges
There are many advantages to applying learning to real-world situations, including acting as a bridge between theory and practice.
Working with organisations, having discussions with business leaders and tackling genuine industry challenges allows you to gain insight into how experts are handling business challenges. At the same time, you will develop the confidence, practical skills and, vitally, the hands-on experience needed for you to tackle similar challenges in your future career.
Develop key professional skills valued by employers
Through global study trips, you'll engage in real-world challenges that build critical employability skills such as:
- strategic and critical thinking
- cross-cultural professional communication
- commercial and global awareness
- adaptability and self-management
- problem solving and execution
- working with people
These experiences strengthen your ability to work effectively in diverse, international business environments.
Expand your international network
You’ll connect with peers from across programmes, international industry leaders, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ alumni, partner schools and local organisations. It’s a powerful opportunity to forge global connections and collaborative relationships that last well beyond the trip and potentially open worldwide career opportunities.
Broaden your understanding of global business
By immersing yourself in different markets and cultures, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of global business dynamics. Whether it’s exploring sustainability in emerging economies or innovation in tech hubs, your perspective will expand with every encounter.
MBA Global Experiences
There are several opportunities to learn internationally on our MBA programmes.

Global Experience Week
Global Experience Week is a core element of the MBA journey.
Each year, students travel to various destinations across the world and spend one week exploring a major business challenge through a local lens.
Previous themes have included sustainability, inequality and climate transformation. Some cohorts have previously worked on wicked business challenges, which are ever-changing, complex issues with no simple fix or definition and often impact multiple groups with conflicting goals.
By connecting with industry leaders and local organisations, alongside peers from the MBA cohorts, students combine their years of professional experience and diverse perspectives to address the trip theme and gain insights into local markets, policies and culture.
Masters' global trips
Many of our Masters’ programmes also include opportunities to gain international experiences through the global experience elective modules.
Depending on your programme, you may have the opportunity to undertake a Global Immersion, Global Business Challenge and Global Exchange.
Whether you’re looking for practical consulting experience, a chance to build worldwide career prospects or an opportunity to gain interdisciplinary expertise in strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, our immersive international electives will equip you with the skills to stand out in a competitive job market.

Previous cohorts have travelled to Boston, New York, Singapore and South Africa, gaining a unique perspective on business.
