Additional programme composition information

Core content

Programme preparation

Through a combination of online pre-study modules and induction week, you will be well prepared for the academic rigour of the MBA and equipped to maximise the benefits of the programme.

Pre-study modules Online

Pre-September

You will be expected to complete online pre-study modules before the start of your programme. These will be delivered via Canvas, our virtual learning environment (VLE). Modules include primers in key areas including accounting, careers, corporate sustainability, data analysis, finance, maths, plagiarism awareness and social innovation and ethics.

Please note that some modules are compulsory while others are strongly recommended.

Induction week On campus

Early September, compulsory

Your Full-Time MBA induction will be spent at our South Kensington campus in London, where you will meet with the rest of your cohort, faculty and programme staff. This takes place at the start of September when the programme begins and lasts for two weeks. It will include an away day that offers the chance to bond with your new classmates.

Core modules

Our core modules build a solid foundation and refine your existing knowledge of advanced business principles. Most core modules run in the Autumn term (September-December) with some running in the Spring term (January-February).

Business Analytics

Managers are faced with a wealth of data. This module is about turning that data into actionable insights, leading to well-informed decisions for complex business problems.

Business Problem Solving

This module equips you with a range of frameworks, tools and techniques, many of which have been developed by the management consulting industry. The focus of the module will be problems that include the collection and analysis of data.

Corporate Finance 1

Corporate finance matters, both to the success of organisations and to economies. The business world is affected and, at times, influenced by the financial decisions made by corporations. You will develop a market-oriented framework for analysing a corporation’s investment decisions.

Financial and Management Accounting

This module will take you beyond the numbers and teach you how a company’s financial reporting can help you to understand that company’s health and story.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

This module will build your knowledge, skills and experience in starting up an innovative business, looking for critical funding, and structuring a deal to make your business viable.

You will learn how to overcome innovation problems, understand customer needs and value propositions, and evaluate commercial potential. You will also learn tactics for securing buy-in and best practices for scaling your business.

Managerial Economics

In order to ensure your business stays buoyant in a competitive market, you need to understand how individual markets operate and how to use economic tools to analyse your position. By the end of this module, you will know how to apply basic principles of economics to real-world questions.

Marketing

Develop a general management viewpoint in planning and evaluating marketing decisions, from strategic and tactical perspectives. It will help you understand how marketing decisions contribute to business performance and how such decisions are affected by organisational and environmental influences.

Organisational Behaviour

Develop the best-practice tools you can use to be an effective leader and manager. You will understand how to manage yourself, lead and motivate others and work effectively in teams to deliver strong results.

Strategy

You will explore business-level and corporate strategy, and develop your ability to think beyond day-to-day business activities. You will examine issues such as how to define a firm's purpose, how to understand its competitors and how to gain and maintain an edge.

Personalisation

Once you have completed the core modules you will have a menu of choices to personalise your learning, with flexcore and elective modules and the opportunity to specialise further with one of our optional concentrations.

Flexcore modules

Our flexcore modules allow you to take a deep dive into a specialist area that aligns with your chosen career path and personal interests. Flexcore modules run in the Spring term and students are required to take two modules.

Data Analytics and Visualisation for Business

This module covers a number of advanced tools for data manipulation and visualisation, including Excel, Google Sheets/Query, Power BI and Tableau.

You will take a managerial perspective and develop statistical thinking when analysing data, using real data sets from IT, supply chain, retail, finance and other relevant industries.

Design Thinking: Solving Complex Problems Through a Disruptive Mindset

Design thinking represents a powerful way to unleash the creative potential of managers and leaders in organisations. It is rapidly becoming a new management paradigm for value creation. You will develop the ability to gain deep insights about users, define and reframe problems, generate effective solutions and articulate ideas clearly, both verbally and visually.

You’ll also develop a mindset that embraces uncertainty and seeks new opportunities through exploration and experimentation.

Corporate Finance II

Some say risk is an inevitable part of investing. Risky investments can bring big rewards, but these risks can, and should, be managed. To prevent loss, you must understand the main financial securities and markets, and how to develop efficient investment strategies.

To complement your classroom studies, you’ll have access to the Connect learning platform’s state-of-the-art technology, including a fully interactive book with online exercises and assignments.

Macroeconomics

This module analyses the macroeconomic backdrop against which businesses and governments operate. You’ll examine real decisions made by governments and corporations, for example the 2008 financial crisis and the economics of Brexit.

Operations

A firm can create competitive advantage through efficient and effective management of its operations. This module covers key concepts of operations management, such as how to analyse process flows and bottlenecks, how to plan capacity and how to manage inventory and supply chain.

You will learn how to apply these ideas to achieve operational excellence.

Electives

The Business School offers over 40 elective modules, offering a mix of on-campus and online formats. Building on the skills you develop during the core modules, you will choose six electives. Your choice will be shaped by whether you’ve opted to pursue a specialism and the flexcore modules taken earlier in the year.

Electives run across Spring and Summer terms and are open to students across our four MBA programmes, which means you will have the opportunity to expand your professional network.

Please note that our elective portfolio is reviewed and updated annually and so elective offerings are subject to change.

Global Experience Week

Summer, compulsory

Global Experience Week is an unforgettable opportunity that MBA students look forward to each year. Previous destinations have included the Nordics, Chile and Kenya. You’ll learn about the challenges local organisations face, and how their operations are impacted by their country’s business environment.

Locations are subject to change. Specific dates and destinations for your cohort will be announced during the Autumn term. As this is a compulsory element of your programme, the cost of the module fee, flights (to a cap), and visas are included in your tuition fees.

Global Exchanges

Optional

The optional Global Exchanges programme allows you to increase your international exposure and build your network. The programme is subject to a competitive application process and places are limited. If your application is successful you’ll be able to take advantage of specialised electives at one of our partner schools, ranging from one module over the course of one week or weekend, to two or more modules over the course of a few weeks.

Extending your learning

Students on the Full-Time MBA have the opportunity to expand their programme duration to 16 months to undertake an Extended Work Placement or Global Exchange, subject to an additional fee.

This will allow you to undertake a wider range of placement opportunities as many employers in the UK and worldwide offer longer internships, which can be particularly advantageous for gaining comprehensive work experience. In addition, employers in Europe often view internships as a critical step in the hiring process, and by participating in longer internships, you can demonstrate your commitment and capabilities, making you a more attractive candidate for future roles.

If you choose an Extended Global Exchange you will enjoy an enhanced international study experience at one of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s partner schools, broadening your cultural and academic perspectives. Both an Extended Work Placement and an Extended Global Exchange will earn you additional academic credit, which is particularly valued by employers in Europe. This can further differentiate you in the competitive job market.

Please note that additional fees apply for the Extended Work Placement and Extended Global Exchange.

In this one-week learning laboratory, you’ll work with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ scientists. Together, you’ll apply innovative thinking to generate business solutions to complex international issues. In groups, you will use business model innovation to create economic disruption with positive environmental and social effects. Students typically work with a deep tech client, developing their understanding of the relationship between business and technology.

Full-Time MBA Capstone

Your MBA will culminate in an unforgettable capstone experience away from campus. You’ll spend time in a natural environment, giving you the space to reflect upon your learning experience. Locations are subject to change and more information will be provided once you begin your programme.

What we look for

We are looking for well-rounded, motivated candidates who can bring more to the table than just a strong academic record. Our ideal candidates are ambitious and proactive individuals with a particular interest in the power of technology and innovation and with the determination to make a real difference in the world.

We look for students who can leverage their networks and resources, demonstrating promising leadership potential and a track record of driving innovation and collaboration.

What could set you apart from other applicants?

  1. Career planning questions
You will need to write about the sector you are interested in working in, your ideal employer, role and country. This requires research, reviewing job specifications for potential roles and researching employers that you may want to work for to show us how a Full-Time MBA will truly benefit you and your career.
  2. Personal statement
We encourage you to be authentic, and don’t simply write what you think we want to hear. We value diversity and we want to find out what you would contribute to the cohort and the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ community.
  3. Finessing your CV
It is important to keep it simple and use a clear format. You should use your CV to highlight professional and academic achievements, extracurricular activities and international experience. One of the things we are looking for is evidence of career progression, so make sure you highlight any promotions or increases in level of responsibility.

Admissions and entry requirements FAQs

What are the international entry requirements?

We accept a wide range of international qualifications for postgraduate study at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.

We review our requirements annually. Updates usually happen in September each year before the next academic year of entry.

If your country or region is not listed, please contact the relevant Recruitment & Admissions team for further information.

When will I receive a decision on my application?

We have a series of admissions rounds throughout the year. For more details about application and decision deadlines please refer to our key dates and deadlines above.

My application has been unsuccessful; can I have some feedback?

Please email the Recruitment & Admissions team if you would like feedback on your application. Please note that whilst limited feedback can be provided, the decision of the academic selectors is final. It will not be possible for your application to be reconsidered.

Can I defer my offer?

You may request to defer your place for one academic year by writing to the Recruitment & Admissions team.

Deferrals are considered on a case-by-case basis and in order to be considered for a deferral, payment of the tuition fees deposit is required. Where possible, requests to defer should be submitted no later than three months before the programme start date.

Please be aware, if you defer your place your tuition fees and deposit amount may differ from the year you applied in and any scholarships granted cannot be carried over.

I’m being sponsored; what documents do I need to provide?

If you are being sponsored by an organisation that will be responsible for paying your tuition fees, you must provide acceptable proof of the award.

Satisfactory evidence of sponsorship is usually regarded as an original, dated and duly authorised letter from your sponsor on headed paper that includes the following:

  • your name and College Identifier Number
  • the programme for which you have been offered a place
  • the amount of fees that will be paid by your sponsor
  • the address to which the invoice should be sent
  • any Purchase Order number required
  • confirmation that the fees will be sent directly to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ

Sponsorship letters should be posted to: MBA Recruitment & Admissions team, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, South Kensington Campus, London, SW7 2AZ

How do I show that I’ve met the English language condition of my offer?

IELTS and TOEFL certificates should be scanned and emailed to the Full-Time MBA Recruitment & Admissions team. If you have not yet received your certificates, you can email your IELTS Test Report Number or TOEFL 16 digit registration number to the Full-Time MBA Admissions team.

If you have completed the Pearson Test of Academic English, please ensure you have sent your scores to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ via your Pearson PTE account.

If you have completed another one of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s accepted English language qualifications, please contact the Full-Time MBA Recruitment & Admissions team and they will provide further information on how to verify this award. You may be required to post the original, physical document to the Full-Time MBA Recruitment & Admissions team.

Do I need to submit my Graduate Admissions Test results with my application?

If you have applied for and been granted a waiver, then you may submit your application without a GMAT or GRE score. If you do not hold a waiver, you are required to submit a valid GMAT or GRE score as part of your application.

Your application will not be complete until this is received, and therefore will not be processed by our Recruitment & Admissions team and may be withdrawn.

How do I submit my official Graduate Admissions Test results?

To submit a GMAT or Executive Assessment score, you must request for it to be shared with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School online using the code S22-7S-16. Please note that you do not need to send a hard copy unless requested.
To submit a GRE score, you must request for it to be shared with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School online using the code 0121.

How long will you accept the old GMAT Exam results for?

I require a visa to study in the UK, when will I receive my CAS?

We will start to issue CAS from April. The details of your CAS will appear on your My ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ record after you’ve met all the conditions of your offer. You will need to upload a scanned copy of the photo page of your passport and current visa (if you have recently completed a degree in the UK), before your CAS can be issued. Please upload these documents to the ‘passport/visa’ section of your My ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ account.

Once your CAS is ready, you will receive an email confirming that it has been uploaded onto your My ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ account. If you log into My ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ you will be able to find your CAS number and the details that have been included in your CAS.

We cannot provide you with a CAS if you have outstanding conditions on your offer. You must allow enough time to meet your conditions and apply for a visa before the start date of your programme of study.

What do I need for my visa appointment?

Your CAS number holds information about the programme you will study and if you have paid any fees. You will not need a formal letter from the University confirming your offer status for your visa appointment.

For more information about what you will need, see the .

Most information can be found on the International Student Support website. If you need any further advice about your visa please contact the International Student Support team.

How do I extend my visa to undertake an Extended Work Placement or Global Exchange?

If you require a visa to study on the programme, you will be initially granted a 12 month student visa upon entry (with an additional four months post study). If you decided to extend the programme to 16 months, you will be eligible to apply for a student visa extension (please note additional costs apply). This would enable you to apply for the Graduate Worker Visa once your degree is confirmed.
