Pre-study modules Online

December/January

Before your programme starts, you will be expected to complete online pre-study modules. These will be available on Canvas, our virtual learning environment (VLE), and include primers in key areas including data analysis, finance, accounting, maths.

Induction week On campus

21-23 January 2027

Your Executive MBA induction will take place on our South Kensington Campus in London. This three-day induction will lay the foundations of your Executive MBA experience and provide the opportunity to meet the rest of your cohort and faculty of the Executive MBA.

Core modules

Our core modules will develop your existing knowledge and ensure you have a confident grasp of all business areas. This includes accounting, marketing, economics and organisational behaviour.

You will attend lectures at our campus in South Kensington, approximately every three to four weeks. These will take place all day on Friday and Saturday, for 11 out of 12 months in your first year. In June and December, an additional two days will be added for core module exams.

Each core module is assessed via some combination of exam, coursework (either group or individual) and class participation.

Accounting and Corporate Reporting Analysis

January-June

This module builds the critical skills you need as business leaders, including understanding the language of accounting, and mastering financial analysis in day-to-day and strategic decision-making. It focuses on how business performance is measured and how business decisions can be structured and analysed. You will also learn how to use accounting for financial management and reporting, and examine the relevance of financial and management accounting techniques to broader issues, such as decision-making and management control in organisations.

Corporate Finance

August-December

This module will provide you with a foundation in the theoretical tools to analyse modern financial markets and the decisions of corporate firms. Firstly, we will cover the role that financial markets play in the economy and the role of financial intermediation. Then, the module is divided into two parts.

Part one: Valuation
This part explains how companies select and value assets that they want to invest in (the left-hand side of the balance sheet), with topics such as present value techniques and valuation of securities, bonds and stocks.

Part two: Financing and Risk Management
This part explores how companies finance their activities and manage risk. It examines the factors influencing “optimal” capital structure. It also looks at how these factors create value on the right-hand side of the balance sheet.

Corporate Innovation and Intrapreneurship

August-December

This module provides a unique opportunity to enhance your knowledge, skills and experience in understanding innovation at industry and company level and setting up processes and procedures to foster corporate innovation.

You will be guided through different strategies implemented by new ventures. You will also explore how corporates adopt ideas from the entrepreneurship community, such as acceleration, incubation and venture capital, as tools for corporate renewal during the live sessions.

You will embark on a live experience through negotiating a term sheet. This is typically used in corporate entrepreneurship and venture capital environments.

Economics for Business

February-June

This module aims to equip you with the tools and concepts economists use to understand how market conditions are determined and analyse the impact of the economic environment on business performance.

By the end of the module, you will develop an understanding of economic forces and be able to apply economic analysis to problems related to business strategy and managerial decision-making.

Emerging Tech for Executives: Quantum, Climate, Ledger & Beyond

August-December

This module offers a structured, accessible introduction to some transformative emerging technologies like quantum computing, distributed ledger technologies (DLT/blockchain), climate technologies and risk management tools — alongside a deep dive into the risks and opportunities they create across sectors. This module demystifies each technology by starting with the fundamentals.

Leveraging Generative AI for Sustainable Business Value

January-June

This module will give you a fresh perspective on how Generative AI (GenAI) is transforming the way businesses operate, from automating complex tasks to enhancing decision-making and innovation. You will explore GenAI's capabilities, examine practical insights into its business integration and applications, and gain hands-on experience through case-based learning and interactive classes.

Marketing Management

January-June

This module develops a general management approach to making, planning and evaluating marketing decisions, from both strategic and tactical perspectives.

You will learn how to think critically about marketing, how to use the marketing toolkit to gain a competitive advantage, learn about the product life cycle and how to build customer relationships, as well as retain their loyalty. We will talk about branding, channels and promotions, and explore the opportunities presented by traditional and digital marketing communications.

Organisational Behaviour

January-June

This module covers the major factors that shape organisational behaviour and effectiveness. You will analyse organisational behaviour at three levels - the micro (individual), the meso (team) and the macro (organisational). You will also examine how activities at each level contribute to organisational performance and effectiveness and acquire the necessary tools to design organisations that thrive in unpredictable environments.

Responsible Leadership and Corporate Success

August-December

This module looks at individual aspects of leadership, organisation-based aspects and personal action planning.

All through the module you will keep coming back to the question of ethical responsibilities and spend time thinking through the challenge of responsible leadership. You will not only have a thorough awareness of the personal and social characteristics that shape you as a leader, but you will have a clear action plan for moving forward with your personal leadership.

Strategy

August-December

This module primarily focuses on ‘business strategy’: where and how a single business or a business unit of a larger corporation competes. It will also introduce ‘corporate strategy’ which is about how multi-business corporations should make decisions around the scope of the businesses in their portfolio.

While the prime focus is on firms participating in competitive markets, some ideas are relevant to other kinds of organisations, such as the not-for-profit sector.

Personalisation

Once you have completed the core modules you will have the opportunity to tailor your learning, choosing five electives to suit your interests and ambitions. We also offer a Final Project as an elective, where you’ll work on a real business problem and demonstrate your decision-making and leadership abilities.

You can choose from the following elective formats to fit into your schedule:

  • online modules
  • two-week: Monday & Tuesday (week 1), Thursday & Friday (week 2)
  • block: Thursday afternoon, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning

Electives are assessed through coursework and class participation. You can also apply to sit in on an additional two electives for which you will not be assessed.

Elective options are shared across our range of MBAs, so you will have the opportunity to learn alongside the wider MBA community and expand your professional network.

Please note that our elective portfolio is reviewed and updated annually and so elective offerings are subject to change.

We accept a wide range of international qualifications for postgraduate study at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.

We review our requirements annually. Updates usually happen in September each year before the next academic year of entry.

If your country or region is not listed, please contact the relevant Admissions team for further information.

Do I need to submit Graduate Admissions Test results with my application?

GMAT / Executive Assessment / GRE is not required for admission to this programme.

However, if you have already sat or intend to take GMAT (old or new test), Executive Assessment or GRE, you are welcome to submit your results. This may add weight to your application, particularly if you feel your degree does not reflect your academic potential.

How do I submit my official Graduate Admissions Test results?

To submit a GMAT or Executive Assessment score, you must request for it to be shared with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School online using the code S22-7S-16. Please note that you do not need to send a hard copy unless requested.

To submit a GRE score, you must request for it to be shared with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Business School online using the code 0121.

How long will you accept the old GMAT Exam results for?

GMAT Exam scores will remain valid for five years from your appointment date.

When will I receive a decision on my application?

We have a series of admissions rounds throughout the year. For more details about application and decision deadlines please refer to our key dates and deadlines above.

My application has been unsuccessful; can I have some feedback?

Please email the Recruitment & Admissions team if you would like feedback on your application. Please note that whilst limited feedback can be provided, the decision of the academic selectors is final. It will not be possible for your application to be reconsidered.

Can I defer my offer?

You may request to defer your place for one academic year by writing to the Recruitment & Admissions team.

Deferrals are considered on a case-by-case basis and in order to be considered for a deferral, payment of the tuition fees deposit is required. Where possible, requests to defer should be submitted no later than three months before the programme start date.

Please be aware, if you defer your place your tuition fees and deposit amount may differ from the year you applied in and any scholarships granted cannot be carried over.

As an international student, what type of UK visa will I need to join this part-time MBA programme in London?

If you are coming to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ for a short period of study, and you do not already hold immigration permission that allows you to study the in-person requirements of the course, then you may need to enter the UK under the Standard Visitor route.

The Standard Visitor route allows students to come to the UK for a period of up to six months in order to undertake a short course of study. If you are offered a place on the programme, our team will provide all the relevant visa information and guide you through the process. Additional information can be found on our Visas and Immigration page.

Can I apply for a Student Visa to complete this programme?

Students on this programme do not qualify for sponsorship under a Student Visa, as it is designed for professionals who are already working in some capacity. All international students taking this programme will have to undertake any face-to-face elements on visitor permission (unless they already hold some other form of permission to be in the UK).

Fees and funding FAQs

Can I pay in instalments?

Self-funded students have the option to pay their fees in instalments. You will be told about this option when you respond to your offer. For further information about the instalment plan, please contact our Tuition Fees team.

I’d like more information regarding the Careers and Professional Development (CPD) loan, who should I contact?

Please contact the Tuition Fees team with any queries you have regarding the CPD Loan.

Who do I contact if I have questions regarding my deposit/tuition fee invoice?

Please contact the Tuition Fees team with any queries regarding your deposit or tuition fee invoice.

What information do I need to provide to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ if I am being sponsored by my company?

You will need to provide us with an original, dated and authorised letter that confirms the following:

  • your name and College Identifier Number
  • the full name and entry year of the programme for which you have been offered a place
  • the amount of fees which will be paid by your sponsor
  • the full name and address to which the invoice should be sent
  • any Purchase Order number required for payment to be effected
  • confirmation that the fees will be sent directly to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ

You will need to email a copy of this letter to tuition.fees@imperial.ac.uk copying business.school@imperial.ac.uk into the email. Please note that until your sponsorship award has been formally confirmed by your sponsoring organisation and accepted by ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, your tuition fees will remain your financial responsibility.

I am being fully sponsored; do I still need to make a deposit payment?

You will be responsible for paying the deposit until we receive a sponsorship letter that confirms that you are being sponsored for 100% of the tuition fee payment, and this has been reviewed and approved by the Tuition Fees team. If you do not pay the deposit within the deadline you risk losing your place.

If you pay the deposit before we receive the sponsorship letter confirming full funding, you will be entitled to a refund for the amount you have paid.

My company is offering a tuition fee reimbursement scheme, how does this work?

If your company is paying the fees directly to you for you to make payment to us, then the agreement is between you and your company, not you and ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. We do not need to receive a sponsorship letter from you.

My company is offering a salary sacrifice scheme, how does this work?

This will be an agreement between you and your company. We do not need to receive a sponsorship letter from you.

Can I still apply for scholarships if I am being sponsored by my company?

Yes. Scholarships are awarded as a reduction to your tuition fees so you can still be considered for a scholarship if you are being sponsored by your company.
