At iCARE, we are committed to using health data responsibly and transparently. As part of this commitment, we publish information about projects that have been approved to access data through our governance processes.

Publishing these lists helps patients, researchers and our partners understand:

  • what types of research are being supported;
  • who has been granted access to data;
  • why the data is being used; and
  • how data access is governed.

You will notice that there are several different project lists. This is because iCARE supports multiple datasets and research programmes, each with its own governance, approvals and eligibility criteria. Access to one dataset does not automatically provide access to another.

List of approved projects

Projects approved using ICHT iCARE Data

This list contains projects that have been approved to access data held within the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) iCARE Research Data Platform.

All requests for access are reviewed through iCARE's governance processes to ensure that the proposed use of data is appropriate, ethically approved where required, and supports research or innovation that aims to improve patient care and health outcomes.

NIHR HIC Cardiovascular theme

The NIHR HIC Cardiovascular Theme is a national research dataset bringing together information from patients with suspected or diagnosed cardiovascular disease across several NHS organisations, including ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ College Healthcare NHS Trust, Oxford University Hospitals, and King's College Hospital.

The iCARE team provides the informatics and data management support for this programme on behalf of Professor Jamil Mayet.

This dataset has its own governance and approval process, which is separate from applications for access to iCARE Research Data Platform data.

³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Healthcare Knowledge Bank Feasibility Studies

This list contains approved feasibility studies using data from the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Healthcare Knowledge Bank (IHKB). Researchers use this data to estimate how many consented participants may be eligible for future clinical trials or research studies. These assessments help determine whether a study is practical, support the design of well-powered trials, and improve the efficient delivery of research. They also help ensure that more patients have opportunities to take part in clinical studies.

COVID-19 data access

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a dedicated governance committee reviewed requests for access to COVID-19 data to support urgent public health and research priorities.

This list provides a record of the projects that were approved during that period.
