We create and turn evidence into action by combining research with practical engagement across city leadership, health systems and policy implementation.

Our work focuses on four key areas:

  1. Data and insight – connecting health, healthcare, wearable and wider determinants data, using AI to generate actionable insight and improve population health.
  2. City leadership – understanding and strengthening how mayors and city leaders can improve health and healthcare.
  3. Health protection – addressing major urban health threats, with an initial focus on antimicrobial resistance in cities.
  4. Health creation – improving health through upstream action on non-communicable diseases and the wider determinants of health.

These four areas are distinct but interdependent.

  • Better city data strengthens leadership and targeting.
  • Stronger city leadership supports implementation.
  • Health protection and health creation depend on action across the wider urban system.
  • Our role is to connect these elements so that evidence can be used more effectively in practice.
