Lori Hernandez (EMBA 2015) is currently a manager within Accenture’s Capital Project Services practice focusing on the chemicals, natural resources, energy, and utilities space. We caught up with Lori at a recent event in Houston
Can you tell us about your studies at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ?
"I was a part of the Weekend Executive MBA (WEMBA) 2013 cohort. I loved the diversity of our cohort! Commuters from Italy, Thailand, Russia, Germany, and Canada were just to name a few. It was truly a global experience and in addition to the course material, I learned so much from my fellow peers. Graduation day is my fondest memory of my time at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. The ceremony was an amazing experience to finish off the programme."
Tell us a bit about the work you’re doing now.
"I am currently a Manager within Accenture’s Capital Project Services practice focusing on the chemicals, natural resources, energy, and utilities space."
How has what you learnt at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ helped you in your career so far?
"Prior to starting the WEMBA programme I worked in Project Controls and Project Management for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms. The MBA programme really opens your eyes to the plethora of opportunities available and paths you can take. I started the MBA with a career plan in mind, by the end of the first year my plans changed and I am very happy for that."
Why did you decide to attend the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ reception in Houston?
"Having just moved back to Houston, TX from London I am keen to stay connected to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. I’ve made such great friends during my time at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, and with the main industries in the city being centred on Engineering and Medicine I figured ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ must be present in the area.
I reached out to the Alumni Office and found out about this event – luckily it all fell in line with President Gast’s visit to Houston. The event was wonderful. It was great to hear President Gast speak on current ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ initiatives and mingle with alumni and guests of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ."
