In collaboration with the central Safety Team, the Property Division's Health and Safety team work to ensure that the facilities, buildings, and activities across our campuses are safe for our entire community.
Some of our key areas of work include:
- Providing advice and guidance to departments, contractors and colleagues on health and safety legislation and compliance, as well as how to identify potential hazards and implement controls to mitigate them.
- Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and ensuring appropriate corrections are made.
- Managing access to high-risk or restricted areas through clear and controlled permit processes.

Accidents and near misses
Reporting an accident and/or a near miss
All staff, students and visitors must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and avoid putting others at risk.
If you are involved in, witness or cause an accident or incident during your work or studies, you must report it through ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's CoreStream system. Reports are investigated and actions may be taken to help present a recurrence.
A near miss is an incident, such as a slip or trip, that does not cause injury but potentially could have. This also includes building defects which may cause injury in the future.
Please report near misses through ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's CoreStream system. Prompt action may prevent a more serious accident happening in the future.
