Professor Bryony Dean Franklin, director of the NIHR North West London Patient Safety Research Collaboration, has been awarded a prestigious NIHR senior investigator award.
Senior investigators are among the most outstanding and influential researchers funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (. They are recognised for the quality and global reach of their research. They also help mentor the next generation, strengthen research culture and embed inclusion.
I am absolutely delighted to become an NIHR Senior Investigator, joining a wide range of colleagues of different professional and research disciplines. I'm looking forward to continuing to support the NIHR and to encourage others in their research journey. is the director of the NIHR North West London Patient Safety Collaboration in the Institute of Global Health Innovation at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
She is also executive lead pharmacist (research) at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ College Healthcare NHS Trust, and co-editor-in-chief of the journal .
A hospital pharmacist by background, she has worked in patient safety research for around 30 years.
She has published widely on medication safety, on technologies designed to reduce errors, and on how to support the public role in patient safety.
She is one of the authors of the recent Global State of Patient State of Patient Safety 2025 report, co-editor of the textbook Safety in Medication Use and co-author of Going into Hospital? A Guide for Patients, Carers and Families, a book for the general public.
