The ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Organoid Facility is a multidisciplinary research and training hub at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, where cutting-edge stem cell and organoid technologies meet real-world clinical translation. We are lowering barriers to next-generation in vitro research by providing world-class infrastructure, deep expertise, and hands-on training to academic and industry partners alike. Facility was established by the NIHR ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ BRC, and since February 2026, we are a TRAC-compliant, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ core facility.

Our mission is to provide a unique ecosystem for building, testing, and translating human-relevant disease models that bridge fundamental biology, engineering, and clinical research, by accelerating the path from discovery to therapeutic impact.

At the heart of our facility is a fully equipped organoid culture laboratory and ethically approved biobank, hosting over 150 intestinal organoid lines. We specialise in adult biopsy-derived intestinal models, with particular strengths in modelling infection, inflammation, and cancer, enabled by advanced readouts and integrated multi-omics analyses.

Our most recently established unit, the , is an NC3Rs funded national centre for  gut-focused research, integrating organoids with organ-on-chip technologies and the state-of-the-art microbiome modelling systems. Together, these capabilities enable the co-culture of human tissues with microbial communities under physiologically relevant conditions, unlocking new frontiers in host–microbe interaction research.
