I was born in the Netherlands. I am researching the interaction between climate and human well-being. We look at developing scenarios in which people can live a good life on a healthy planet. This involves researching energy, emissions, and poverty.

My research
I am trying to provide an answer to the question of how we can move towards a world with zero poverty while meeting climate goals.
My inspiration
A combination of both academic supervisors and of environmental activists.
Who is your STEM hero?
Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen, one of the founders of ecological economics, for his interdisciplinarity. He applied technical knowledge to social problems.
Most significant discovery/invention?
The bike. What an amazing transportation vehicle it is. (Electricity is pretty cool, too.)
Career options after study
I will probably continue to do academic research.
My hobbies
I love to take my gravel bike for a ride, and travel Europe by train.
