Richard Ghail and Alison Ahearn took part in the Space Settlement Design Competition on 24-25th March at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ

Richard Ghail and Alison Ahearn took part in the Space Settlement Design Competition on 24-25th March at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. Richard's team won: his students will go to the grand finals at NASA, Houston. (Alison's team won in 2009 and the students reported a wonderful experience at NASA). The competition is expected to expand to 6 UK regions next year to meet demand from schools, with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ hosting the grand final. Judges include NASA and UK space engineers, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ alumni and staff and, this year, Jeff Wayne who composed the space-themed rock opera, The War of the Worlds based on HG Wells' novel. Wells studied at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and was first president of the RCS Association in 1909.
