³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ employs Clinical Academic staff who are employed on NHS National terms and conditions. Some Clinical Academics receive Excellence or Impact Awards, which are not under ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s control or funded by ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
These are, in effect, bonus payments awarded by the Department of Health & Social Care to senior Clinical Academics based on their clinical and academic contribution. Although ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ does not decide these bonuses, they affect the bonus pay gap at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ because a higher proportion of senior Clinical Academic staff are male. Therefore, Clinical Excellence Awards have been analysed separately.
