How do we make good decisions, work with other people, solve problems and communicate our ideas clearly in a fast-changing world? This practical and engaging course introduces you to a range of useful skills for everyday life, study, work and community settings.

Taught by , the course explores how people think strategically, respond creatively to challenges, manage time and priorities, and work effectively in groups. You will also look at communication, public speaking, negotiation, decision-making and the art of influencing others in thoughtful and ethical ways.

Rather than treating these as purely professional skills, the course approaches them as human skills: ways of understanding situations, listening to others, making choices and contributing confidently in different contexts. We will also consider how AI tools are beginning to shape the way people organise information, make decisions and collaborate.

Each session is practical and interactive. You will work with case studies, take part in group activities and discussions, and have opportunities to test ideas in a supportive environment.

No previous experience is required, only curiosity and a willingness to take part.

Reading material or special equipment needed

We recommend bringing to class a laptop with a recent operating system, as the course includes hands-on work with AI tools and AI agents that may not be fully supported on tablets or iPads.

Class materials will be posted on Discord. Each week, we will also use Discord to discuss recent developments in AI.
