Who is this course for?

This course is for learners who have completed Portuguese 1 or have equivalent knowledge. You should be comfortable with basic greetings, introductions and simple present tense.

Course overview

Build your confidence in Portuguese on this friendly and supportive post-beginners course. Designed for learners who are already comfortable with basic greetings, introductions and the simple present tense, the course will help you extend your vocabulary, improve your accuracy and become more confident in everyday conversation.

You will learn how to describe places, express preferences, talk about your professional routine, give opinions, introduce family and people close to you, and describe physical appearance, habits and likes. Alongside this practical language work, you will develop your understanding of key grammar points, including possessives, demonstratives, preposition contractions, word order and quantifiers.

The course will balance structured learning with plenty of conversational practice, and will adapt to the needs and interests of the group. You will also explore different accents and dialectal variations across the Portuguese-speaking world, including Brazil, Portugal and other Lusophone countries.
